Office Supplies Pens and Accessories
The cornerstone of any office, no matter how large or small is pens. You can't do anything without them. Even in this modern age where everything seems to be done on computers, pens remain pivotal to office work. Afterall, we don't always have a keyboard around, but you ALWAYS have a pen handy!
There are many types of pens and they all serve different purposes. Some you use simply because you prefer that type as opposed to another type. Some people like rollerball pens, some like retractable pens, some like gel pens and some like expensive brushed silver or gold plated pens. Whatever your preference, you should be able to find a good deal and low price on the pens that you use.
Pen Brands: There are several brands in the world of pens. These brands include Paper Mate, Zebra, Pentel, Foray, Sanford, Pilot, Monteverde, Avery, Bic, Cross, Eberhard Faber, Montblanc, Parker, as well as your generic office max and office depot brand pens. Some pen companies focus on different sectors of the pen industry. Montblanc, for instance, tends to focus on high end expensive executive style pens whereas Bic focuses on your average run of the mill office pen. Which you prefer is wholly a matter of personal choice and, well, preference.
Pen Types: Just as there are many different brands of pens, there are also many different types of pens too. These include ballpoint retractable pens, ballpoint stick pens, rollerball pens, rollerball gel ink pens, fountain pens, porous point pens, specialty pens, and even pen refills. The type of pen is often dictated by the purpose to which you need to use the pen, but it can also come down to simple preference just like with pen brand selection. You might use specialty pens in executive meetings with other companies, at the same time you might use a regular rollerball pen for everyday office use.
Generic Pens: You've probably seen them before, boxes of ten or twenty generic pens with brand names like Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, or even Wal-mart. These pens are often very ordinary and may be acceptable for every day office use for general office work, though you may also want to keep a supply of more expensive pens on hand for special occasions. These cheap generic pens are often a function of price versus sustainability. They may cost much less than a name brand pen, but don't necessarily expect them to last as long as a good name brand pen, or a more expensive executive pen like a Montblanc. Also these cheap pens often do not allow for refilling, you generally have to throw them away as soon as they start to run out of ink. This may be a serious draw back for you or it may not be a big deal at all.
Gel Pens: A few years ago when gel pens first came out I thought they were the coolest thing since sliced bread and bought a bunch, even though they cost more money. I quickly discovered the downside of gel pens after the end of the first day when I noticed that my hands were stained with deep black ink that was hard to get off. I had also smeared many things throughout the day that I had touched with my stained hands. Yes, these pens write beautifully, but they can be messy if you aren't careful!
